As I'm wrapping up this final assignmnment I want to use a last post to reflect a little bit on not only this blog, but the subject we went through this year. During 2021 all the tools and theoretical frameworks detailed in this blog were worked on and explored in order to know the role that technology can have in the classroom. And that was the final purpose of this blog, showing how these modern ideas and tools can improve lessons and help students reach real understanding of any topic.
During these two lesson plans the theory studied during the year was applied in different ways, but the main frameworks that I considered when planning were Bloom's Digital Taxonomy, Active Learning and one that I haven't really gotten into so far, the TPACK model. First, I considered that students need to go over Bloom's low order thinking skills before going up to the high order ones in order to organise how they acquire the knowledge before they use it in more complex ways, concluding in the creation of a final product. Then, all activities aim to create active learning in students instead of giving them a passive role in which they just try to absorb what the teacher says, as you can see in the lessons the teacher does not lecture students or makes them correct worksheets at any point, the idea is that true understanding comes from their own actions.
Finally, the TPACK model is also present throughout the blog, in this framework the basis for truely meaningful and deep understanding of a topic with the aid of technology, the correct use of pedagogical methods and with the appropriate content. TPACK allows teacher to carry out the most effective teaching possible, and these ideas of using the right tool with the right purpose has been considered through my blog.
Personally, I think that applying all this theory into a real situation, planning, was a great way of consolidating the knowledge that I've aquired this year. This assignment in it of itself is a perfect example of active learning, in which we have had to apply knowledge rather than writing about in on a paper. I'm sure that there is no way I'll forget anything that has been included in this blog and I can't wait to put all of this into practice in my own classes, using modern technology to improve lessons and showing students there is more than one way of learning something.
